Wanda D. Filer, MD, MBA is a family physician and founder of the Strategic Health Institute. She earned her doctorate from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and completed her residency in family medicine at Underwood Memorial Hospital in Woodbury, NJ, where she also served as chief resident. She completed her MBA in 2009 at Pennsylvania State University Executive MBA Program.

She practices clinical Family Medicine part-time in York County, Pennsylvania and served as Pennsylvania's first Physician General.  Dr. Filer has worked extensively with the media including 18 years as a health correspondent for WGAL (NBC), Lancaster, PA.  Through the Strategic Health Institute, she combines the arenas of public policy, public health education, advocacy, and the media to build awareness of today's health issues and the need for change. She also serves as a Director for York Traditions Bank, York and Capitol Blue Cross (21 county region).

Dr. Filer is actively involved with many organizations, both nationally and on a state level, in health improvement and advocacy development. Areas of focus include health services for underserved and emerging populations, immunization education and process improvement, family violence and sexual assault, and public health improvement initiatives. She lectures extensively on topics regarding public policy, public health, patient access, prevention and healthcare trends. 

Dr. Filer is a past president of the PA American Cancer Society, Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians and current chair of Visions of Hope for the PA Coalition Against Rape. She has won numerous state and national awards for her health advocacy efforts, especially around immunization, cancer control and family violence. She has travelled extensively for business and pleasure. She is married to Dr. Robert Filer and they have 2 daughters.
